Some areas dodge storm, others don't

The only Environment Canada advisory posted for the local area Monday morning is in the southern part of Perth County which also includes Mitchell and Stratford.

It's a winter weather travel advisory as the that area sits on the edge of a winter storm that is rolling through other parts of the province.

But the weather doesn't have borders.

The weather has affected the first day back to school in Perth County and and northern areas of Wellington.

The Upper Grand District School Board has closed all schools and students are back to remote learning.

Buses are cancelled and a handful of schools are closed in areas of Perth County.

There are no closures reported in Bruce or Grey counties. And areas in Huron County closer to the lake are not affected.

There is a snowfall warning for the Waterloo Region and for the Guelph area. Those warnings stretch east and south from there.

Toronto and the Niagara Region could see more than 30 centimetres of snow and the City of Ottawa is preparing for a once-in-a-decade storm.
