Saugeen Shores hosts online event to calculate carbon footprint

An online event called Making a Difference One Person at a Time: Measuring Your Carbon Footprint is being organized by the town of Saugeen Shores’ Environmental Sustainability Ad Hoc Committee.

Mayor, Luke Charbonneau, says this is in partnership with Project Neutral and with the support of the Nuclear Innovation Institute.

“We’re going to calculate our carbon footprint and show how that can be done and discuss what that means. Ultimately, I think it’s about how each and every one of us in our own lives can make decisions and make changes to help the environment.”

The event will feature a diverse group of panelists as well as a presentation on climate change, and what individuals can do to lower their carbon footprints. The public can register for the live virtual event by visiting www.SaugeenShores.ca/CarbonFootprintEvent.

“We all have a role to play in our effort to reach net-zero carbon emissions by 2050,” says Chad Richards, NII. “Measuring personal and household carbon footprints can be a meaningful exercise that sheds light on how our individual activities contribute to the challenge we face while highlighting the influence that we have as consumers to make a difference.”
