Pine River Cheese set to open this summer

Lucknow & District Co-op and the TG Group have announced a partnership to reopen Pine River Cheese.

In a report for Huron Kinloss council made by Business and Economic Officer, Amy Irwin, the plant will make past favourite cheese products, as well as new cheese offerings.

In addition, planning is underway to renovate the store and incorporate eat-in, catering and take-out options, and open an eatery, deli, pizzeria and gelato bar – called “Pine River Cheese Mercato and Pizzeria”.

Pine River Cheese is currently hiring and anticipates being open for the summer season.

Pine River Cheese closed in 2019 after being in business for 134 years. The plant had a fire in 2009 and closed for over a year, and said it was never really able to recover from the loss.

TG Group was in the bidding to purchase the facility, but it went to Lucknow & District Co-op in March of 2021.
