Multiple collisions kept South Bruce OPP busy during winter storm

South Bruce County OPP responded to 28 collisions and stuck vehicles during the powerful winter storm that started Sunday, and finally ended overnight Monday.

The powerful snow squall dumped large amounts of snow on the region, creating poor visibility in blowing snow, combined with slippery snow covered roads.

OPP say there were no injuries reported at any of the collision scenes. The storm closed highway 21 between Amberley and Port Elgin due to multiple crashes. The road was reopened Tuesday morning.

OPP suggest motorist need to have a properly equipped vehicle and be attentive.

But police added, "there are times that you need to postpone non-essential travel. Staying off the road during a powerful winter storm will not only keep you safer, but you will be helping to protect first responders that are dispatched to assist if you don't make it to your destination."
