COVID-19 outbreaks continue across Midwestern Ontario

The Grey Bruce Health Unit is reporting 41 new infections Tuesday. There are at least 302 active cases. Nine residents are currently hospitalized with the virus.   

Nine long-term care residences and one hospital in Grey Bruce are experiencing outbreaks. These include Grey Bruce Health Services – Owen Sound Site,  Rockwood Terrace Long Term Care – Durham, Pinecrest Manor – Lucknow, Errinrung Retirement & Nursing Home –Thornbury,  McVean Lodge – Hanover, R-Villa Retirement Living – Ripley, Parkview Manor – Chesley, Mapleview Long-Term Care Home – Owen Sound, Lee Manor – Owen Sound, and Grey Gables - Markdale. 

Huron Perth Public Health added 28 new cases. There are at least 1,176 active cases. Five residents are hospitalized due to the virus. There are 19 active outbreaks in Huron Perth. 

Wellington Dufferin Guelph Public Health reported 76 new COVID-19 cases, 14 of which are in Wellington County, where there are 537 active cases.  30 residents are currently hospitalized with the virus.

18 facilities are experiencing outbreaks, including Wellington Terrace - Fergus, Caressent Care - Arthur, Royal Terrace - Palmerston, Caressent Care - Harriston. 

A total of 3,220 patients are hospitalized in Ontario with COVID-19 and 477 people are in intensive care. Data shared by the Ontario Hospital Association show that 80 adults were admitted to hospital the previous day, noting it's the highest number of admissions so far during the pandemic.

There are 250 patients on ventilators due to COVID-19. Twenty-one new virus-related deaths were reported.
