For the second year in a row, the Grey Bruce Farmers' Week 2022 conference will take place online.
Organizers said they made the decision to go virtual because of COVID-19 concerns.
The 56th edition of the conference will run from January 4 - January 11.
The week will include live and pre-recorded sessions, but in a release, organizers said the presentations will be available for 30 days after the conference ends.
Presentations will be separated into commodity days, as follows:
• January 4 - Check Your Tech Tuesday, Marty Seymour from FCC, and the Honourable Senator Rob Black, will discuss The Future of Agriculture in Canada, with Andrew Campbell, the Fresh Air Farmer facilitating. In the afternoon, officers from the OPP and the MTO will respond to questions about Farm Implements on the Roadway. As an On-Demand feature, Jackie Ralph from CMHA Grey-Bruce, and Deborah Vanberkel, a registered psychotherapist with Cultivate Counselling, will have a fireside chat about Mental Health in Agriculture.
• January 5 - Beef Day, four producers, one who is also a veterinarian, will share their Calving Tips.
• January 6 - Dairy Day, three panelists will share their perspectives on the Sustainability of the Dairy Industry.
• January 7 - Goat Day, we have asked three goat producers to provide tips about Year-Round Breeding.
• January 8 - Sheep Day, one producer and two nutritionists will tease out Reducing Feed Costs.
• January 10 - Ecological Day, four panelists with delve into the Carbon Countdown.
• January 11 - Crops Day, there are 2 discussion panels. The Soil Health Panel, where three members of the Ontario Soil Health Network will divulge their on-farm soil health tips and tricks. The Cover Crops, Digging Deeper panel has three researchers and an agronomist to answer submitted questions pertaining to cover crops.
