COVID-19 cases continue to climb locally

Midwestern Ontario continues to deal with surging COVID-19 case counts. 

The Grey Bruce Health Unit is reporting 83 new infections Tuesday. 19 are located in Saugeen Shores, 15 in Owen Sound, 10 in Kincardine, five in Blue Mountains, four in Brockton, four in Georgian Bluffs, four in Northern Bruce Peninsula, three in Grey Highlands, three in Huron-Kinloss, three in Meaford, three in West Grey, two in South Bruce Peninsula, two in Southgate, and one each in Arran-Elderslie, Chatsworth, Hanover. Three infection are in unknown areas in the region. There are 505 active cases. Six residents are currently hospitalized with the virus. 

Wellington Dufferin Guelph Public Health reported 152 new COVID-19 cases. 27 of those cases are located in Wellington County, where there are 314 active cases. 13 residents are currently hospitalized with the virus.

Huron Perth Public Health has not released Tuesday's COVID-19 cases as of 4:30 pm. 

Ontario is reporting 8,825 new cases of COVID-19 with 491 hospitalizations and 187 in the ICU. 

The province administered more than 144,000 vaccine doses yesterday. 90.7 percent of Ontarians 12+ have one dose and 88.0 per cent have two doses.
