COVID-19 cases spike in Midwestern Ontario Monday

The Grey Bruce Health Unit added 36 new cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours. There are 203 active cases. Four residents are hospitalized with the virus. There are active cases in every municipality in Grey Bruce.

Huron Perth Public Health added 44 new cases of COVID-19 over the weekend. There are 112 active cases. Three residents are hospitalized with the virus. There are new cases in ten of the 15 municipalities in Huron Perth, and there are active cases in 14 Huron Perth municipalities.

Meantime, Wellington Dufferin Guelph Public Health reported seven residents are in hospital due to COVID-19, with unvaccinated people 13.5% more likely to end up in hospital with the virus than vaccinated individuals. 299 new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed in Wellington Dufferin Guelph over the weekend, for a total of 536 active cases. 86 of the new cases were located in Wellington County. There are 147 active cases in Wellington, including five in Mapleton, and 27 in both Minto, and Wellington North. An estimated 83.7% of confirmed cases are caused by the Omicron Variant.
