The Hockey Hub mass immunization layout is returning to Grey and Bruce.
The Grey Bruce Health Unit is bringing back their Hockey Hub mass vaccine clinics to meet the demand for vaccines now that the province is opening up COVID-19 booster shots to everyone over 18.
As of December 20th, everyone over 18 will be able to book an appointment for a booster shot, provided it's been three months since your last shot.
In a release the health unit says it is getting help from Bruce Power and local partners to give as many shots as possible in the coming weeks.
Bruce Power is offering three central locations to hold the clinics and the health unit is evaluating them to see if they would be a good fit.
“Public health has been a leader in managing the pandemic, and by partnering with companies like Bruce Power, we are able to focus on administering far more doses safely and efficiently," said Dr. Ian Arra, MOH for Grey and Bruce.
The Hockey Hub model used in the spring and summer allows a large number of people to be vaccinated in a short amount of time. It was adopted by public health officials across Canada and internationally.
Meanwhile the Grey Bruce Health Unit did report another 32 cases of COVID-19 on Thursday, leaving the total number of active cases at 115.
Of the new cases, 12 are in Owen Sound; four in South Bruce; four in West Grey; three in Saugeen Shores; two in Arran-Elderslie; two in Grey Highlands; one each in Chatsworth, Georgian Bluffs, Kincardine, South Bruce Peninsula, and the Blue Mountains.
Five people are in hospital with the virus.
