South Bruce Peninsula Mayor will sit in Bruce County Warden's chair again

The mayor of South Bruce Peninsula will lead Bruce County Council for another term.

Janice Jackson was re-elected Thursday for another one-year term as Warden.

Jackson was elected to municipal council in South Bruce Peninsula in 2010 and was then elected as Mayor in 2014 and then again in 2018.

“It is an honour to have my Council colleagues once again instill me with the responsibilities of Warden for the upcoming year,” said Jackson. “Together, we are working to keep our region safe, protect our most vulnerable, and help our economy recover. I look forward to pursuing a continued focus on affordable housing, quality infrastructure, and community safety initiatives. 2022 will be an exciting year for Bruce County, with many emerging opportunities for businesses, workers, and families.”

Among her duties, the Warden will chair Council meetings, represent Bruce County at official functions, and act as an official spokesperson.

Mayor Janice Jackson is Bruce County’s second female Warden.

Tessie Greig from Lion’s Head was elected as Bruce County’s first female warden in 1965.
