Huron-Bruce MPP Lisa Thompson is calling for nominations for this year’s Remarkable Citizens to recognize the dedication and volunteer work done by local residents.

This year, due to COVID-19, the MPP is planning on hosting a virtual levee on Wednesday, Jan. 12 to help ring in 2022 and salute both this year’s and last year’s recipients.

More details of the event will be announced at a later date in December.

Thompson says despite the challenges, there are many remarkable citizens who are doing their part to help others through the pandemic and who are engaged in their communities.

Nominations can be made by submitting a 250 word summary of the person’s contribution to the community and that can be sent to diane.foxton@pc.ola.org.

Contact information, including mailing address, email, and phone number, are to be included for both the nominee and the nominator along with two pictures of the nominee.

The Nomination deadline is 5 p.m. Friday, Dec. 17.

CORRECTION: This article has been updated to reflect that the ceremony will also recognize nominees that were selected in 2020.
