Grey Bruce MOH says region is strongly combatting COVID-19

Grey-Bruce Medical Officer of Health Dr. Ian Arra says despite cohorts of schools in Grey and Bruce counties being closed this week, the area remains in a good place when it comes to combatting the COVID-19 pandemic.

Schools in Meaford, Hanover, Durham and Walkerton had cohorts closed this week, but Dr. Arra says these decisions were made to get ahead of the game, and noted none of the schools in either county saw the cohort closure develop into an outbreak this week.

Arra says "We have no outbreaks in any of the high-risk settings, whether it be schools, child-care, hospitals, long-term care or retirement homes, so this is as good as it gets for a situation in a fourth wave".

He also noted that an "outbreak" is defined as two cases within one school, with an epidemiogical link between them, and confirms this link has not been found in any Grey or Bruce county schools recently.
