Survey in Huron and Perth to look at coping through the pandemic

The Gateway Centre of Excellence in Rural Health will use provincial money to support a survey looking at coping through the pandemic.

The $275,000 was presented to President Gwen Devereaux on Friday by Huron-Bruce MPP Lisa Thompson.

Devereaux says the survey will be distributed in Huron and Perth on November 1st.

“So we are going to look at the needs of our labour force in Huron and Perth counties. And often we feel we're marginalized a bit in rural and here is a true example of investing in your rural population,” said Devereaux. "“We will be doing a survey which will be out the beginning of November and this is all of us, every business, every employer, every employee, we're all affected by COVID and we will make people aware of the supports that are here for them.”

And Lisa Thompson says she can't think of a better organization to conduct the survey.

“That has the network to facilitate this in-depth survey that, quite frankly, we need in this region because everybody has been working their way through the pandemic in many different ways and it's affected business and individuals alike,” added Thompson.

The survey will be distributed in Huron and Perth on November 1st and the goal will be to find out what people need and to let them know what supports are available to them.
