Savour Owen Sound nominated for Ontario’s 2021 Tourism Resiliency Awards

The Tourism Industry Association of Ontario’s 2021 Tourism Resiliency Awards has announced finalists, and The City of Owen Sound is named for two provincial award categories.  The winter culinary promotion Savour Owen Sound, has been announced as a finalist in both the Collaboration and Innovations categories.

Savour Owen Sound is held every year in March.  During the pandemic, a revised curbside framework for Savour Owen Sound was made to showcase the local culinary industry and connect restaurants with residents and visitors in a safe manner.

786 Savour Owen Sound ballots were cast at 18 participating local restaurants, totalling just over 1250 Savour Owen Meals enjoyed by residents and visitors during the month-long campaign. Online orders, curbside pickup, and deliveries were encouraged and recognized to align with Public Health restrictions during the Covid-19 Pandemic.

"We are proud to see Savour Owen Sound announced as finalists in both the Collaborative and Innovation categories for the Tourism Resiliency Awards. City staff have worked hard to support our small business community, prior to and throughout the pandemic. Congratulations to all who participated and were able to make Savour Owen Sound 2021 a success,” said Mayor Ian Boddy

Winners of the Tourism Industry Association of Ontario’s 2021 Tourism Resiliency Awards be announced at the 2021 Ontario Tourism Summit on October 26 & 27 in Ottawa, Ontario
