Owen Sound Council reviews satisfaction survey

A satisfaction survey being presented to Owen Sound City Council shows three quarters of respondents rated their quality of life as either good or excellent. Over 1300 residents were interviewed either by phone or computer in late July.

Respondents felt affordable housing and cost of living was the most important issue in the city. That was followed by police and fire services, including public safety and crime. Jobs was the third most important issue. Three quarters of participants agreed that Owen Sound is a welcoming and inclusive community.

The survey  found about 75% of participants felt they received good value of city programs. When all services are ranked together, parks and trails topped the list with 87% satisfied. Harrison Park was the most frequented by residents of Owen Sound prior to the Covid-19 pandemic at 61%.

Most (62%) believe that services and program should be paid through property tax revenue instead of user fees.

Residents most commonly contacted the City to make a property/by-law complaint (13%), inquire about building permits (10%), or report a problem.
