The 20th CKNX Healthcare Heroes Radiothon total surpassed the 2020 total and reached $506,053 through the seven hours of the event.
Over the past 19 years, the CKNX Healthcare Heroes Radiothon has raised a total of $12,472,845 and with Saturday's event, that total is now closing in on $13 million.
Special programming was featured on CKNX, 101.7 The One and CoOl 94.5 between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. highlighting the initiatives each foundation is raising money for.
The 12 foundations involved include, Bruce Peninsula (Wiarton/Lion's Head), Centre Grey (Markdale), Chesley, Clinton, Goderich, Hanover, Listowel, Mount Forest, Palmerston, Seaforth, Walkerton and Wingham.
Local residents have shared their stories about local hospitals and why they had to use them, and a list of what the foundations are fundraising for can be found here.
Donations can still be made through various ways for the rest of October and the end of the year.
