Natural gas expansion announced in Neustadt

Natural Gas availability will be increasing around Neustadt in Grey County.

Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound Member of Provincial Parliament Bill Walker was in the small Grey County community for an announcement of approximately $5 million in funding, which he says will help just 219 homes, farms and businesses in the area to connect to natural gas.

"These types of programs in places like Neustadt, or remote, rural and indigenous communities, totally a game-changer, giving that affordable heating not only for families, but also for businesses and farmers," said Walker.

“This is a significant investment in Neustadt and a testament to the collaborative working relationship of all partners,” said West Grey Mayor Christine Robinson. “Investing in infrastructure is a key focus for West Grey. Today’s announcement of natural gas expansion in our municipality is an enhancement for our residents and positions West Grey for continued expansion while supporting our existing businesses, agriculture and manufacturing sectors.”

Energy Minister Todd Smith was also on hand for the announcement after a stop in in Perth East earlier in the day for a similar announcement affecting the community of Brunner.
