Police think on-line challenge led to vandalism in Goderich

Police think an on-line challenge led to $3,000 worth of damage being done to public washrooms in Goderich.

Huron County OPP says the challenge is called 'Devious Licks'. And it encourages youth to damage and steal property while filming the event.

The damage to the washrooms at Bannister Park in Goderich happened sometime overnight October 2nd and 3rd. Both the men's and women's washrooms were destroyed. Several picnic tables were also damaged and the pavilion was vandalized with graffiti.

"These types of challenges are going to land you in trouble whether it be a school suspension, damage to your online reputation or potential criminal charges. Parents, if you have a student at home that is on social media and is following these trends you may want to have a conversation with your child about the implications of getting involved in something like this," stated Huron OPP Community Safety Officer Jamie Stanley.

Huron County OPP is also aware of other recent incidents involving damages to washrooms at both elementary and high schools in Huron County.
