Video goes viral from the arena in Ripley

A video, supposedly showing a woman being arrested at the Ripley arena, is going viral.

The video shows officers arresting the woman, allegedly for failing to leave at the request of arena staff after she refused to show proof of vaccination.

The video was posted to Facebook by Josh Dawson who captions the post by saying he was not asked to show proof.

In the video, two OPP officers can been seen calmly explaining to the woman and the man filming that she is being arrested under the Trespass to Property Act at the request of the Township of Huron-Kinloss.

The woman and the person filming shout at the officers throughout the video that they have a right to be in the building and that they will "show [the officers] the law," though they fail to quote any piece of legislation.

There are three young children in the video including one that becomes distressed and begins to cry "mommy" when the woman is put into handcuffs.

At no time during the video did either the woman or man filming attempt to de-escalate the situation despite the obvious distress of the children. The officers, who did try to de-escalate the situation, seemed concerned for the children asking who's they were.

At time of writing, the video had more than 9500 views.

The OPP have not made any statement about the incident.
