The Saugeen Valley Conservation Authority has extended the Flood Watch issued on Wednesday until Monday, September 27 for areas downstream of Priceville along the main Saugeen River.
Between Tuesday afternoon and Thursday morning, the SVCA watershed received as much as 125 millimeters of persistent rain, with the most rain recorded in Durham and Hanover. As a result, water levels in the main Saugeen River continue to build into today in Priceville and Durham, likely to peak overnight.
The Ausable Bayfield Conservation Authority has ended a flood warning for parts of the watershed in Midwestern Ontario, but the it remains in effect for Lambton Shores and North Middlesex. The Flood Warning was issued on Wednesday, September 22, 2021.
A media release from the Authority said watercourse levels are expected to remain high through the weekend, with a chance of additional rain.
Rainfall totals collected through the ABCA’s stream gauge network were in the range of 60-130 mm, with an average of 90 mm. The heavy rains resulted in road closures on all Middlesex County roads, and all roads within several municipalities.
The Grand River Conservation Authority has terminated all flood warnings.
