Upper Grand School Board developing vaccine policy

The Upper Grand District School Board is developing their strategy and protocol to require all UGDSB staff, Trustees, and visitors to disclose and provide proof of vaccination status.

Trustees passed a motion asking the Director of Education to work with Wellington Dufferin Guelph Public Health, local health partners, and UGDSB employee groups To ensure that UGDSB workplaces remain as safe as possible .

The board wants the new procedure to ensure individuals submit a formal attestation if they are “fully vaccinated” against COVID-19 and provide proof of vaccination.

Those who aren't vaccinated will have to addend mandatory education on the benefits of vaccination.

The policy will also include a schedule for dates by which point any unvaccinated individuals must disclose if they have received first and second doses of the COVID-19 vaccines.

The board will comply with its human rights obligations and accommodate employees who are legally entitled to accommodation.

That the finalized procedure and strategy will be implemented prior to school reopening on September 7, 2021, if feasible, or as soon as possible thereafter.

The Upper Grand District School Board serves more than 35,000 students through 65 elementary schools and 11 secondary schools in the City of Guelph, County of Wellington and County of Dufferin.
