Virtual events are scheduled for September

Huron County's Local Immigration Partnership is launching a new event in September.

Immigration Partnership Support Officer Hana Aria explains Newcomer Welcoming Week runs from September 10th until September 19th and the goal is to encourage people to give some thought to what they can do to ensure that everyone, including newcomers and immigrants, feel welcome in communities.

“On September 13th there's going to be a children's author book reading and on Thursday, September 16th there's an adult author's book reading. On September 18th, we have a video we are sharing about creating more welcoming spaces for newcomers,” said Aria.

Aria says the event will have to be virtual, due to the pandemic, but many of the events will be shared on the Huron Local Immigration Partnership website.

There are a total of six events planned, starting with an International Welcoming Week Live stream to get things started on September 9th.

A schedule of events can be found on the Local Immigration Partnership Welcoming Web page and most of the events will be shared on their website.
