Heat expected to stretch through the early part of the week

Environment Canada has issued a heat warning for Perth County and northern areas of Wellington County.

The forecast is calling for the heat and humidity to continue today and possibly into the middle of this week with daytime temperatures soaring to at least 30 in some areas with humidex values of 37 to 40.

Heat warnings are issued when very high temperature or humidity conditions are expected to pose an elevated risk of heat illnesses, such as heat stroke or heat exhaustion.

The risks are greater for young children, pregnant women, older adults, people with chronic illnesses and people working or exercising outdoors.

While the warning is in place for Perth County and northern areas of Wellington, hot and humid weather is expected throughout the entire region including Huron, Bruce and Grey.
