Murder charge in connection to body found in Southgate

Murder charges have been laid following an investigation which started with a missing persons report in 2018 followed by the discovery of a body in the Township of Southgate on Christmas Eve of 2019.

In September of 2018 Monica Chisar was reported missing by her family after she was last seen in Hamilton. Over a year later, on December 24, 2019, her body was found in the area of Southgate Road 10, east of Highway 6 in the Township of Southgate.

This week, members of the OPP and the Hamilton Police Service, under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, arrested and charged 40-year old Ahmet Nikci of no fixed address with Second Degree Murder and Indignity to a Body.

The accused is being held in custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Hamilton at a later date.
