Huron Perth Public Health to offer Hepatitis A vaccination clinics

Huron Perth Public Health will be offering Hepatitis A vaccination clinics following an outbreak related to recalled food products.

HPPH states in the release that the Public Health Agency of Canada issued a Hepatitis A outbreak on July 31st in response to an outbreak linked to frozen mangoes. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency issued a food recall warning on July 30th for various brands of frozen mangoes.

The recalled products are: -Nature’s Touch Mangoes frozen mangoes – two kilograms, with a best before date of November 9, 2022 -Compliments Mango Mania (frozen) – 600 grams, with best before dates of November 10, 2022 and December 18, 2022 -Irresistibles Mango Chunks (frozen) – 600 grams, with a best before date of November 10, 2022 -President’s Choice Mango Chunks (frozen) – 600 grams, with best before dates of November 6, 2022 and November 10, 2022

HPPH Hepatitis A vaccination clinics will be offered Monday, August 9th and Tuesday, August 10th to those who consumed any of the recalled products in the last 14 days. There is no cost for vaccination. To book an appointment, please call HPPH at 1-888-221-2133 ext 2284.

HPPH states that you do not require vaccination if you:

-Have received a complete series of Hepatitis A or Hepatitis A/B (Twinrix) vaccine -Have received a single dose of Hepatitis A vaccine in the past six months -Have previously had a Hepatitis A infection

The recalled mangoes were distributed and sold in Ontario, though no confirmed cases have occurred in the province yet. There has been one confirmed case each in Quebec and Nova Scotia.
