Man air lifted to hospital after serious crash in Owen Sound

Police in Owen Sound say a man was seriously hurt in a crash involving a cement truck on Thursday.

At around 11:30 a.m., officers were called to the intersection of 16th Street East and 9th Avenue East for a two-vehicle collision.

Police say a cement truck collided with a small vehicle and the driver of the car had to be cut out by emergency crews.

Paramedics arrived to take the man to Grey Bruce Health Services. Police say the driver has since been transferred by Ornge air ambulance to Victoria Hospital in London to be treated after he sustained serious injuries.

Owen Sound police, along with a forensic identification officer and a collision investigator worked to secure the area following the crash to gather evidence that may assist in the investigation.

No other details on if any charges will be laid have been provided by police as the collision is still being investigated.

The police service is thanking witnesses who came forward to assist in the incident.
