COVID-19 cases continue to surface in Midwestern Ontario

The Grey Bruce Health Unit says fourteen residents are currently hospitalized due to COVID-19, with six of them being transferred to hospitals outside of Grey Bruce. 13 new cases were added in the latest update, for a total of 191 active cases. Four of the new cases were in Huron Kinloss, three in Meaford, two in Owen Sound, and one each in Saugeen Shores, Saugeen First Nation, Grey Highlands,  and Georgian Bluffs. There are 277 high -risk contacts. The virus has contributed to the deaths of nine Grey Bruce residents since the pandemic began.

Huron Perth Public Health added seven new cases of COVID-19 Monday. There are now 14 active cases. One person is hospitalized. There are active cases in Central Huron, Huron East, Morris-Turnberry, North Huron, North Perth and Stratford. There have been 57 fatalities due to COVID-19 since the pandemic began. 73.5% of eligible Huron Perth residents have received at least one dose of a vaccine for COVID-19.

Wellington Dufferin Guelph Public Health added fourteen new cases of COVID-19 over the weekend, nine of them in Wellington County. There are 21 active cases in Wellington County, including eight in Minto, eight in Wellington North and two in Mapleton. There have been 41 fatalities in Wellington due to COVID-19 since the pandemic began. Across Wellington Dufferin Guelph there are seven people in hospital with the virus including three in the ICU.  77.5 per cent of the eligible population has received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.
