Many local Canada Day fireworks cancelled again for this summer

A number of traditional Canada Day fireworks displays are cancelled again this summer.

The North Huron Fire Department will not be hosting fireworks in Wingham again this year due to ongoing COVID-19 restrictions.

Following suit is Goderich, Saugeen Shores and the Atwood Lions Club.

Most municipalities are planning alternate Canada Day events, including virtual activities for children including drawing contests, socially distant BBQs and BBQ drive-thrus and other COVID-safe ways to celebrate.

The Atwood Lions Club will host a home decorating contest, rock decorating, sidewalk chalk contest and an elimination draw for prizes.

Many events, including the Atwood Lions festivities, are being hosted via Facebook Live and other online streaming platforms.

For more information on Canada Day festivities, visit your local municipal website.
