Support for Saugeen Ojibway Nation's Youth Leaders in Training

Bruce Power’s supplier partners are making a donation of $50,000 to the Saugeen Ojibway Nation’s Youth Leaders in Training Program.

David Abbott, Bruce Power’s Director of Indigenous Relations and Business Partnerships says the program helps youth aged 14-25 develop leadership skills like self-confidence, effective communication, creative planning, and conducting workshops and events.

“The positive impact the community mentors have had on the youth of Saugeen First Nation and the Chippewas of Nawash Unceded First Nation over the past decade has been indescribable,” Abbott said. “We thank our supplier partners for focusing on the Leaders in Training Program this year with their donation.”

Lester Anoquot, Chief of the Saugeen First Nation, said the leadership program has been instrumental to his community’s next generation of leaders.

“Many youth in our community have developed excellent skills through this program, which will serve them and our community well into the future,” Chief Anoquot said. “We thank the member companies of the nuclear supply chain for investing in the youth in our community through the Leaders in Training program.”
