Grey-Bruce Public Health Unit reports five new COVID-19 cases Saturday

The Grey-Bruce Public Health Unit added five new cases of COVID-19 to its total on Friday.

Of the new infections, three are in Owen Sound, one is in Arran-Elderslie, and one is in West Grey.

That brings the total caseload since the start of the pandemic to 1,384.

There are 35 active cases in the region now, three of which involve a variant of concern. Another 64 people are high-risk contacts.

Across Ontario, there were 502 new cases on Saturday and 15 deaths.

Public Health Canada reported its totals at 7 p.m. Friday. There were 1,424 new cases across the country for a total of 1,399,716. Of those, 18,411 are considered active infections. There were also 13 deaths attributed to the virus Friday for a nationwide total of 25,886.
