Eleven COVID-19 cases Thursday in Midwestern Ontario

Ontario added 590 cases of COVID-19 Thursday and reported eleven people with the illness passed away since Wednesday's report.

Health officials are reporting an upward swing in the number of new daily cases of COVID-19 in Grey Bruce. Seven new cases were confirmed today, three in South Bruce, two in Brockton, and one in South Bruce Peninsula and West Grey. There are now 28 active cases, five of them variants of concern. There are 58 high-risk contacts. There are no residents in local hospitals with the virus. However, two confirmed cases from Grey-Bruce are  hospitalized due to COVID-19 outside of Grey-Bruce.

Huron Perth Public Health added two new cases of COVID-19 Thursday, and one person is in hospital. There are 21 active cases including six variants of concern.

Wellington Dufferin Guelph Public Health added twelve new cases of the virus today, two of them in Wellington.  There are 17 active cases in Wellington County.
