Province provides $100 million dollars for tourism businesses

The province announced $100 million dollars in funding for the tourism sector.

Minister of Heritage, Tourism, Sport, and Culture, Lisa MacLeod announced Thursday that eligible businesses can apply for grants of  $10,000 to $20,000.

Those businesses must not have received the small business grant; must have 99 or fewer employees, been in businesses since July 2nd, 2019, and experienced a revenue decline of 20 per cent or more.

"The grant is estimated to support over 7700 businesses," said MacLeod. "I have been assured by the treasury as well as finance that if those businesses exceed 7700 and the dollar figure exceeds $100 million dollars, that I will have the flexibility to go back to support more of our ailing tourism sector."

Applications for the grants are now being accepted. The deadline to apply is June 25th.
