An Owen Sound man is facing several weapons related charges after police say he was uttering threats.

On May 7, police began an investigation involving death threats. Through the investigation, police learned that the suspect was unlawfully in possession of a shotgun.

The 55-year-old Owen Sound resident was arrested on May 8 for uttering threats. Police executed a search warrant at the man’s downtown home, after which police located ammunition concealed inside, that police say the man was prohibited from possessing.

The shotgun had been moved prior to police arrival but was located and turned over to police with assistance from the public. The gun and the ammunition remain in police custody.

The man made a court appearance on May 9 in relation to six charges including Uttering Threats, Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm and Carless Storage of a Firearm. He was placed on a Release Order and will appear in court again in June.
