Perth County announces new Community Emergency Management Coordinator

Perth County has announced David Clarke will fill the role of Community Emergency Management Coordinator (CEMC).

The County provides Emergency Management services for The Municipality of North Perth, Township of Perth South, Township of Perth East and the Municipality of West Perth. Over the past year the County also provided CEMC services for the Town of St. Marys.

A Perth County news releases said the role of the CEMC is to lead the emergency preparedness program as required by the Provincial Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act. During the COVID-19 Pandemic the role and impact of the CEMC has been brought to the forefront as there has been an increased need for coordination across multiple disciplines and reporting between regional Emergency Control Group (ECG) meetings across municipalities to share vital information about the health and safety of the community.

“We are pleased to welcome David to the Perth County Team.” said Lori Wolfe, CAO of Perth County “His skills and expertise in the field of Emergency Management, Incident and Hazard Management as well as his background in Fire Protection will allow him to hit the ground running in this critical time for our region.” David is joining Perth County coming from his most recent role working with the Fire and Emergency Services Training Institute (FESTI) with Toronto Pearson Fire and Emergency Services in Toronto.

In Perth County, collaboration is a key component o e Emergency Management program as this role interacts not only with each municipality, but also with other emergency service providers. The role brings the CEMC out into the community on a regular basis for education and program delivery. David’s first day with the County was May 3, 2021.
