New COVID-19 fatality added in Midwestern Ontario

Huron Perth Public Health reported another fatality due to COVID-19 Monday, bringing the death toll due to the pandemic to 53 lives. Five new cases were confirmed Monday, three in North Perth, one in Stratford and one in South Huron. There is an outbreak at Fordwich Village Long Term Care Home in Howick were two healthcare workers tested positive.  Two people are hospitalized with the virus. There are 29 active cases including 18 variants of concern.

The Grey Bruce Health Unit added six new cases of COVID-19. There are 59 active cases, including 37 active variants of concern. However, about half of the new cases were already identified as close contacts so they were in isolation before testing positive. Three residents are hospitalized due to the virus.

Wellington Dufferin Guelph Public Health added 141 new cases over the weekend, 37 of them in Wellington. There are 109 active cases in Wellington.  Across Wellington, Dufferin Guelph, there are twelve people in hospital with the virus, and another 14 are being treated in the ICU due to COVID-19.
