COVID-19 still spreading in Midwestern Ontario

The COVID-19 virus continues to find victims in Midwestern Ontario.

The Grey Bruce health Unit confirmed another 14 cases of COVID-19 Thursday.  Five of the new cases were in Owen Sound, there were three in Brockton and Blue Mountains, and one each in Saugeen Shores, West Grey, and Grey Highlands.  There are 127 active cases including 66 variants of concerns. There are 663 active high risk contacts. Seven Grey Bruce residents are fighting the virus in hospital. There have been 1,140 confirmed cases in Grey Bruce including 218 variants.

In Wellington Dufferin Guelph, 16 people are in hospital, and eight are in the ICU. Public health reported 57 new cases across the region, 14 of them in Wellington County. There are 95 active cases in Wellington. The outbreak at Wellington Terrace in Fergus is no longer active.

Huron Perth Public health added four new cases of COVID-19 Thursday, two in North Perth, one in Central Huron and one in West Perth. There are 40 active cases. 64 variants of concern have turned up in the region. One person is in hospital.
