Dozens of new COVID-19 cases added in Midwestern Ontario Monday

Dozens of new cases of COVID 19 have been confirmed in Midwestern Ontario Monday.

The Grey Bruce Health Unit reported 13 new cases in the past 24 hours, adding up to 160 active cases. In all there have been 1107 confirmed cases which includes 183 cases of Variants of Concern, of which 73 are active. Four of the new cases are in Owen Sound, three in Southgate, and two in Georgian Bluffs. There was one each in Meaford, The Blue Mountains, Grey Highlands, and Chatsworth.  Four confirmed cases are hospitalized in Grey and Bruce due to COVID-19, and two cases are hospitalized outside Grey Bruce due to COVID-19. There have been five deaths.

Huron Perth Public health reported 13 new cases of COVID-19 Monday, seven of them in North Perth. Four cases were added in Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh.  Stratford, West Perth, and  North Huron One each had one new case.  And one case was transferred to another health unit. There are 49 active cases. 50 variants of concern have been identified in the region. 52 people have succumbed to the virus. One person is currently hospitalized.

Wellington Dufferin Guelph Public Health reported ten people are in acute care in hospital fighting COVID-19, and another eight are in the ICU battling the virus. Across the region, there have been 116 new cases of COVID-19 since Friday, and there are 386 active cases. 45 of the new cases were in Wellington County, where there are 122 active cases. There have been 35 fatalities in Wellington.
