ABCA partners with local restaurants for fundraiser

This year's Ausable Bayfield Conservation Authority fundraising dinner has been sidelined by COVID-91.

But that isn't stopping the group.

ABCA Communications Specialist Tim Cumming says while there cannot be an in-person event, they're doing a lot of different things.

That includes a 50-50 raffle hosted by the Exeter Lions on-line, and a virtual 'Dining For Your Community Dinner'.

“We have eight restaurants already signed up and more being added. And basically people can get a takeout dinner, on special dates, a special dinner and the money goes towards local community projects,” said Cumming. “Some great videos and testimonials about what the dinner supports. So some of the people who have benefited from the money raised by the community will be sharing videos and messages and interviews.”

Cumming says one thing the live dinner has always created is a sense of community and fellowship. So, in the absence of an in-person event, they're hoping the television feeds from Tuckersmith, Hay Communications and HuronTel and streaming social media will create a bit of that.

More information about the virtual Conservation Dinner can be found on the Ausable Bayfield Conservation Authority website.
