Del Duca calls for child care workers to get vaccinated; Lecce to be fired

Ontario's Liberal Party leader is calling on the province to vaccinate all childcare workers as soon as possible.

"Today I am calling on Doug Ford to include the more than 30,000 childcare workers who would like the vaccine in the rollout, including those outside of hotzones," said Steven Del Duca. "Childcare is essential, and essential workers deserve to be vaccinated as soon as possible."

Del Duca said back when there were issues with vaccine supply he understood vaccinating only the most vulnerable but now he says, supply is not an issue.

"Yesterday there were 800 thousand doses in freezers or fridges, the numbers should be getting better on the supply side, we should have the vaccines that we need. I'm just talking about nudges here and there to make sure our daycares stay open."

Del Duca also  renewed his calls for the premier to fire his education minister, pointing out Stephen Lecce sent a letter to parents declaring schools were safe and would open after the break just 24 hours before the province ordered all classes to shift to remote learning indefinitely.

"And the fact that Stephen Lecce put out that letter on Sunday and then less than 24 hours was completely steamrolled by his premier tells me Doug Ford doesn't have confidence in his education minister," said Del Duca
