Video to focus on stories of women who have experienced domestic violence in Perth County

The Stop Violence Against Women committee of Perth County is developing a domestic violence training video for frontline staff - including services such as CAS, police, counselling services and medical centres.

Coordinator, Thea Symonds, says the video will focus on the stories of women who have experienced domestic violence and sought services in Perth County.

“Their stories will help to break down different stereotypes and stigmas about people who experience domestic abuse, and ways to support them. It will also include an educational component, with experts who can speak more to aspects such as recognizing symptoms and signs of trauma, and more effective prevention and support.”

Symonds says story submissions will remain completely anonymous, and they can be sent by email stopvaw@wightman.ca. Representatives can also provide you with guidance and questions to help tell your story. They can also call 519-273-1020.

Stories should be submitted no later than April 30th.
