CORRECTION: Grey Bruce reports COVID-19 case associated with Kincardine school

The Bluewater District School Board is working with the Grey Bruce Health Unit to address a "probable" case of COVID-19 at a high school in Kincardine

According to public health, there is an individual linked to Kincardine District Senior School with a direct link to a positive case, is symptomatic but has not yet had a positive COVID-19 test. The health unit believes the case was contracted outside of school.

"While there is an individual considered a probable case of COVID-19 associated with this school, our assessment, to date, indicates there is no evidence that transmission took place within the school environment," said Medical Officer of Health and Chief Executive Officer Dr. Ian Arra. "Currently there are no outbreaks (evidence of transmission from person to person) in any schools or childcare centres in Grey Bruce. The single bus route involved has been investigated and anyone deemed at high or low-risk has been notified or are in the process of being notified, at this time."

The health unit is working with the school board to determine any close contacts of the individual. Only those contacted will be required to seek testing.

The Bluewater District School Board has a COVID-19 resource page that can be found here.
