Grey Bruce Health Unit updates vaccination progress

The Grey Bruce Health Unit reported Friday 5,716 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Grey and Bruce.  That included all Long Term Care Home residents, staff and essential caregivers with a 1st dose. Some 2nd doses have been given to Long-Term Care residents and staff. All High Risk Retirement Homes staff and residents have also received a first dose, along with High and Very High Risk Health Care workers in a hospital setting, EMS, and many Retirement Home Staff and Residents

Fire and Police are also set to start getting their shots the week of March 1, 2021 as well as Chronic Home Care Recipients and High or Very High Community Health Care Workers. Vaccines will also begin for adults 80 years of age and older. 2nd doses will begin for Long Term Care Residents. Vaccinations are ongoing for members of the Indigenous Community on and off reserve.

The Health Unit expects the large scale roll-out of vaccines to begin the week of March 15, 2021.
