Charges laid after fire at Port Elgin residence
Police have charged a 40-year old Port Elgin man with arson after a fire at a multi-unit dwelling in the town in September of last year.
The September 20th fire at 560 Ivings Drive in Port Elgin sent the 40-year old male occupant to hospital after suffering severe burns. He was transferred to the London Health Sciences Burn Unit.
The Ontario Fire Marshal and Saugeen Shores Fire Department led the investigation into the cause of the fire.
A 40-year old Port Elgin Man has been charged with:
1. Arson – Damage to Property – Criminal Code
2. Alter or offer to alter the chemical or the chemical or physical properties of
cannabis by the use of an organic solvent – Cannabis Act
3. Possession of illicit cannabis – Cannabis Act
The man was released and will appear in Walkerton Court on a future date.
The charges have yet to be proven in court.
