United Way ready for annual 211 Day

United Way Perth-Huron is ready for the annual 211 Day celebrating the 211 phone service linking people to important local programs and services.

211 Day is celebrated every February 11th, and brings further awareness to the free phone service that helps people find help for many different problems or issues 24/7, 365 days a year. Since 2010, the 211 service has helped people in Huron-Perth navigate the many programs and services available to them in an easy manner. 211 can help find services and programs that address mental health, homelessness, senior care, hydro or food bill insecurity, legal issues and much more. When residents call 211, a live trained 211 navigator assists the caller in finding a program or service that can assist them.

The 211 service is free and confidential. United Way Perth-Huron continues to utilize and raise awareness for services like 211 to help tackle local issues like poverty, homelessness and social isolation in local communities. To donate to or volunteer for United Way Perth-Huron, call 519-271-7730 or 1-877-818-8867, mail to 32 Erie Street, Stratford, ON N5A 2M4 or visit perthhuron.unitedway.ca.

“Since 2010, 211 Ontario has been helping individuals in Perth-Huron navigate the complex network of human services quickly and easily,” says Director of Community Information for 211 Susan Faber. “It’s an incredibly important resource and we hope that through initiatives such as 211 Day, we can raise more awareness around this resource.”

“Everyone needs a helping hand sometimes and that’s what 211 is here for,” adds Faber. “When your call is answered, someone will help guide you with compassion, understanding and a thorough knowledge of local programs and services that can support you. Just pick up a phone and dial 2-1-1.”
