Grey Bruce reports probable case of COVID-19 at Flesherton school

The Bluewater District School Board is working with the Grey Bruce Health Unit to address a "probable" case of COVID-19 at a high school in Flesherton.

According to public health, there is an individual linked to Grey Highlands Secondary School who is likely to test positive for the virus. The health unit believes the case was contracted outside of school.

"While there is an individual considered a probable case of COVID-19 associated with this school, our assessment, to date, indicates there is no evidence that transmission took place within the school environment," said Medical Officer of Health and Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Ian Arra. "Currently there are no outbreaks (evidence of transmission from person to person) in any schools or childcare centres in Grey Bruce. No bus routes of any schools are involved with this case."

The health unit is working with the school board to determine any close contacts of the individual. Only those contacted will be required to seek testing.

A list of active cases within the Bluewater school district can be found here.
