COVID-19 continues to claim lives in Midwestern Ontario

Five Wellington County residents passed away over the weekend as a result of COVID-19.

Wellington Dufferin Guelph Public Health reported this morning that the death toll due to the virus has taken the lives of 86 people in the region, including 25 who live in Wellington.

65 new cases of COVID-19 were added in the region over the weekend, ten of them in Wellington. One person is in hospital in Wellington.

Huron Perth Public Health reports that COVID-19 has contributed to another fatality, as the pandemic death told in Huron Perth reached 46 Monday.

Eight new cases were confirmed Monday for a total of 78 active cases. One person is in hospital.

Active outbreaks continue at four long term care homes, two retirement homes and one hospital.
