Man falls through greenhouse roof in Hanover

A Hanover Police release reported a man in mental distress fell through a greenhouse roof while officers were attempting to convince him to come down.

Hanover and West Grey Police officers responded after a 33-year-old man walked away from the Hanover and District Hospital while under care for mental health.

The man left about 4 p.m. Sunday and was not dressed for winter weather. Officers arrived at the former John Diefenbaker Secondary School to find the man on the roof. He fell through a glass panel and landed on the floor, fracturing his shoulder, and cutting his hands.

Grey County Paramedics transported the man back to the Hanover and District Hospital without further incident. The Hanover Police Service contacted the Special Investigations Unit who have since determined they will not be invoking their mandate to investigate this incident.
