A dispute in Port Elgin leads to a slew of charges

A Port Elgin man is facing a slew of charges after a dispute became physical.

Saugeen Shores Police were called to a home in Port Elgin just before 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 23rd to break up a fight between two men. Officers accuse one of the men of threatening and assaulting the other man with a weapon.

The suspect was found as he was leaving the area in a vehicle. He was arrested and officers suspected he may be impaired by a drug so he was taken to the police station to be evaluated by a drug recognition expert.

Officers also seized brass knuckles from the vehicle.

The suspect is charged with uttering threats, assault with a weapon, possession of a prohibited weapon, operation of a vehicle while impaired by drug and failure to comply with a release order.

He was released from custody and is to appear in court at a later date.
