Grade 6 student from Hullett Central makes most of fundraising

A Grade 6 student at Hullett Central Public School in Londesboro doubled her fundraising goal for the food bank in North Huron.

Leah Boven says she had hoped to raise $750 but what encouraged her to go beyond that was the presentation her principal made every day about the impact COVID-19 was having on people.

"And that really inspired me because they were big numbers that lost their jobs and that they weren't able to feed their families, so they had to go to the food bank, so I wanted to make sure the food bank had enough money to feed those people," said Boven.

Leah ended up donating $750 to the food bank and another $750 to Huron Women's Shelter Second Stage Housing facility in Clinton because she says they're in need right now.
