211 service available to help people through pandemic

The Perth Huron United Way's Director of Community Information for 211 says, during this pandemic, a lot of people are looking for help they never thought they'd need.

Susan Faber says for many people it's difficult to know where to start looking as mental health continues to be a problem as the pandemic drags on.

"And the best way for them to find help is by calling 211 and somebody actually answers the phone. They can explain what their challenges are and that counsellor that answers the phone can go through the different services and programs that we have available here in Perth and Huron counties," said Faber.

"Calling 211, they can put you directly through to any of these multiple help lines as well as pointing you in the right direction for mental health services in our communities, food insecurity, needing food banks and challenges coming up with evictions and homelessness and cases like."

The 211 service is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
